Dear xxxx,

Call For Papers

Special Track on Underwater Sensor Networks in WASA’07

http://www.wasaconf.org/index.html

UnderWater Acoustic Sensor Networks (UWA-SNs) consists of a variable number of sensors and vehicles (Unmaned Underwater Vehicle (UUV), Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), etc.) to perform collaborative monitoring tasks over a given area. The main motivation for UWA-SNs is their relative ease of deployment since they eliminate the need for cables and they do not interfere with shipping activities. UWA-SNs are envisioned to enable applications for environmental monitoring of physical and chemical/biological indicators, tactical surveillance, disaster prevention, undersea exploration, assisted navigation, etc.

The motivation of this track is to demonstrate the state-of-the-art developments in the underwater acoustic networking technologies. We intend to provide a forum for UWA-SN researchers to exchange new ideas and experiences in this exciting field. Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

- Underwater network architecture design

- Time synchronization

- Target tracking and event detection

- Underwater vehicle/object localization and navigation

- Topology control and coverage

- Reliable MAC/Routing algorithms and protocols

- Data models, storage, and processing

- Security, privacy, and robustness

- Channel modeling and performance analysis

- Simulation and testbed, case studies

- Physical layer design

All submissions will be handled electronically through the conference website and must be in PDF or PostScript. Papers must not exceed 15 pages ( US "Letter" size, 8.5 x 11 inches) including text, figures and references in single-column, single-space format. The font size must be at least 10 points. Questions about the submission process should be directed to any Program Chairs. All papers should be submitted electronically through EDAS Conference Management System.

All papers will go through a rigorous review process during which three reviews will be sought. Accepted papers will be published in the conference Proceedings, which intends to be published as Springer-LNCS series and distributed at the conference. Selected papers from the conference will be fast-tracked to one of three Special Issues of international Journals.
